Amanda Beller's Gallery
Place. Community. Connections. Nostalgia.
I am drawn to structures. I am drawn to old bricks and peeling paint, to power lines and clotheslines. I imagine the lives that have engaged with the spaces. I am interested in collections of ordinary objects that fill one’s domestic realm. In front yard hangouts and mended fences. In years of conversations held within homes and on porches. Tiny glimpses of americana, all of it reflects pieces of lives and moments and memories tangled together through generations. These objects and these structures represent years of lives. They exhibit collections of moments. And they reinforce our sense of place. And the nostalgia associated with one’s memory of a place is precious and personal. I hope my work invites reflection of structures and spaces that have shaped us. And gives us pause, as we imagine making new connections within our community.
